This place has a lot of history.
Since the Bronze Age Venlo was mentioned.
(3000 - 8000 BC)
Near the German borders there lived Celts and Romans are mentioned as well.

Since recent excavations there is proof of buildings and a wooden bridge of the Roman Ages.
In 1450 they build a Fort.
The Spanish people rebuild this fort in 1641and called it in name of the Earthangel Michaël.
It was called in Dutch: Fort Sint Michiel.
Later between 1910 and 1913 the fort was vanished and they build a garrison on this spot.
Some parts are still viewable today.
The garrison was called: Frederik Hendrik Kazerne.
In the last decades the garrison held a military driving school.
In December 2002 the garrison closed as a new part was build at the garrison at Oirschot.
The driving school got centralized into the garrison there.
After the Frederik Hendrik Kazerne was closed, they made it into an outdoor attraction place.
Hosting Dj's, Fancy Fairs and so on.
The newlied plans are to build a new Football Stadium for the football club: VVV-Venlo.

To be the first official virtual munzee of the Netherlands it had to be on a special place.
