A few miles up river from Fowey lies the small waterside village of Golant. The village has a population of 200 – 300 and is a centre for traditional boatbuilding and yachting.
Please try to avoid church service times when visiting.

The church of St Sampson is said to be on the site of where St Sampson established a shelter for himself on his journey from Ireland, through Wales, Cornwall and on to Brittany. It was consecrated in 1509, although some parts are said to date back to 1200 AD. The church occupies a position above the village of Golant and there is ample layby parking nearby, with some good views of the river Fowey from the top of the bank.
Once you have bagged the munzee a short walk downhill from the church leads you into the village, which is worth visiting. There is a pub, which serves food and along the river-front road there are also public toilets.

The Munzee is hidden just above ground level on the '20' pole. Please replace carefully between the pole and the stone so it is not in sight.
