Uggg, it has started to become somewhat painful to scan all these social munzees. There are so many that are tweeked, no border, not enough contrast, etc... I realize that it may be hard for some to use graphic software and even more confusing are what the rules are for scanning QRs. I need to add something to the Skin Machine to help, but alas I am soon on my way to MM2 and don't have time for a quick fix.
In lieu of that, here are some tips. I have found by much trial and error, that in order for most phones to scan a social munzee it needs to follow a few simple rules.
1. The QR code marking MUST be DARKER than the background. Black on white works but the opposite will not on a lot of phones. In fact, I don't know of any that will.
2. The background includes a border. Make sure that the marking have at least the width of the dots as a border around the entire QR.
3. The markings must have adequate contrast or color difference of at least 50%. If using black and white this may be rather easy to spot. If you were to pick a middle gray on a white background that should work for most. If using different colors, keep in mind that the phone isn't really looking at the color as much as the contrast. To see how much contrast you really have convert the QR to gray-scale and then look at it.
If you don't have the ability to determine the contrast, then please stick with black and white.
4. Don't stretch the QR taller or wider. It must stay a square to scan well.
Please don't think I am picking on anyone, I am really just trying to help you get the most out of your social munzees.
I promise that when I get back from MM2 I will get something up on the Skin Machine that will make it SOOOO Easy to make your social munzee image.
